 Dr. Brian Taylor

Dr. Brian Taylor

Director

Brian grew up in farm country near Dorchester, Ontario, and spent many summer vacations on the Bruce and Manitoulin. He went to medical school at Western in London, completed his training in Colorectal Surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, and was a teaching surgeon at Western from 1983 until he retired in 2015. During his career at Western, he looked after many patients from Grey-Bruce with complex surgical problems. He and his wife Cathy had always planned to retire to the countryside near Lion’s Head, and they felt very much at home here. But Brian lost Cathy to cancer in 2019, and will never forget the tremendous support he received from their village, from Home Care/CCAC and Palliative Care, and from the Lion’s Head and Owen Sound Medical Staff and Hospitals. He saw what the health care system here could accomplish. With this knowledge of this vibrant community of Lion’s Head, and with his past experience as Chief of Surgery in London, and with the ongoing information he has gained from working with the surgeons in Owen Sound as assistant when required, he feels that he can make a strong practical contribution to the Bruce Peninsula Health Services Foundation. Brian is also a member of the Lion’s eHead Hospital Auxiliary, and is also the current Board Chair of Golden Dawn Senior Citizen Home in Lion’s Head.
